Shakti Movie Review
Rating: 2/5
The film Shakti was hyped up a lot. Jr. NTR appears in two roles in this film – one as Shakti Swaroop a NSG Commando and the second as Rudra, guardian of Mahasakthi peetham and father of Shakti.
Shakti is assigned the task of providing security to Ileana. She is the daughter of home minister Prabhu and also the chosen one to save the mahasakthi peetham.
Evil men from Egypt cast their eye on ‘Jwalamukhi’ and Rudrasoolam as they can give them unlimited powers at and at the same time destroying the 18 sakti peetams.
It is now up to Jr NTR to accomplish this task. This is the story of the film.
Director Mehar Ramesh has made a complete mishmash of the film. There are several things that have gone wrong in the film. The characterization is weak. The story and screenplay are weak. The taking is weak. The music and direction are weak. The comedy too is weak.
There is also no emotional attachment for the audience with any of the characters. With so many things gone wrong, it is only natural that the film has turned out to be below average.
There is a huge star cast – Jr. NTR, Sonu Sood, Jackie Shroff, Prabhu, Pooja Bedi, Nazar, Balasubrahmanyam, Brahmanandam, Ali, MS Narayana, Krishna Bhagawan, Manju Bhargavi, Pooja Bedi etc. etc. However, most of them have very insignificant roles and the director has failed to utilize their talent.
The one and only redeeming feature of the film is Jr. NTR and that too in the character of Shakti Swaroop. His role as Rudra is another washout. Ileana too is a minus for the film.
Verdict:
No need to waste time and money for watching this film. Catch it up when it is telecast on TV.
For NTR fans, they will watch it anyway – good or bad. They need to watch it in order to see how Mehar Ramesh has ‘killed’ the image of NTR with Shakti.
